Binondo, Quiapo and Santa Cruz. The sharp end of the visit going east on the street and then spring Customs River, close to the Pasig River to the bridge Jones. We crossed to get into the districts of Binondo and Santa Cruz, where the bustling Chinatown of Manila. On the street we Dasmariñas Plaza Santa Cruz, with European-style fountain in the center and the rebuilt church of Santa Cruz on one side. The huge rush of people, many of Chinese origin, and the chaos of vehicles reminds us that we are in an Asian city. Read the rest of this entry »

The Philippines

The Philippine government following the United States Government. He organized as a republic, where the President functions as head of state, heads of government, and Supreme Commander of the armed forces. President elected by popular vote for a term of 6 years, and presides over the cabinet. Legislative Council of the Philippines has two chambers: the Congress consists of Senate and House of Representatives, members of both elected by the election. There are 24 senators who served for 6 years in the Senate, while the House of Representatives consists of not more than 250 members of Congress who serve for 3 years. Judicial branch of government headed by the Supreme Court, which has a Chief Justice as head and 14 Supreme Court Justices, all appointed by the President.

The Philippines is an active member of the United Nations since its acceptance on 24 October 1945. The Philippines is also a founding member of ASEAN, and is an active player in APEC, the Latin Union and a member of Group 24. The Philippines is also an ally of the United States, but also a member of the Non-Aligned Movement.

Philippines dispute with the Republic of China (Taiwan), People’s Republic of China, Vietnam, and Malaysia on oil and natural gas in the Spratly Islands and Scarborough Shoa, and with Malaysia for Sabah. Sultan of Sulu who receive Sabah as a gift in 1703 after helping the Sultan of Brunei to defeat the rebels, has given the Philippine government the power to claim the lost territory. Until recently, the Sultan of Sulu’s family still receive payment “leases” for Sabah from the Malaysian Government.
