Filipinos are avid artists and is likely to be invited to dinner at the home of a Filipino family in some point in their journey. If a Filipino in a restaurant or club invites you to sit or offers food, it is considered polite to refuse the invitation the first time. If the offer comes back, have a seat and enjoy the hospitality.
Note that the Filipino culture is very relaxed when it comes to invitations and punctuality. In all likelihood, a local can accept an invitation to dinner without realizing that this was his true intention. Even if you receive a clear “yes”, it is a good idea to call back and confirm whether or not the guest is attending. As a general rule, the third invitation is considered very seriously. The import and export of the following items are prohibited: pornography, illegal drugs and firearms. In addition, visitors are not allowed to take with certain objects of nature outside the country, including turtle shells, snakeskin, orchids, corals and mussels.
Foreign currency may be transported across the border, as long as the amount withdrawn does not exceed the amount that is entered into the country. Everyone entering the Philippines must fill out a form to declare the goods it brings to the country.
