Davao City
This city is located about 946 kilometers southeast of Manila. Nearly ten percent of the city area is used for residential, institutional, commercial and industrial purposes. This city is considered as a typhoon-free city, and the climate is characterized by rainfall, humidity and even temperature.
Davao City has emerged as a center for business and tourism in the southern Philippines. In 2008 the city of Davao was awarded as the best city to live in the Philippines and was also honored as one of the most livable cities in Asia.
In the city of Davao is famous tropical fruit called as “Durian”, a delicious fruit that smells bad and can only be found in a tropical region particularly in Southeast Asia. It is also known for the “Waling-Waling”, a famous orchid that can only be found locally.
The highest mountain in the Philippines, Mount Apo, can also be seen from Davao and the sanctuary of one of the largest eagles in the world, the Philippine eagle.
Davao City is also a destination for shopping, considering that there are plenty of stores and malls. Hotels, motels and inns are also scattered in the vicinity of the city so that it meets the needs of the visitors in this area. Attractive tourist destination and also developed to further enhance tourism activities in the city.
The inhabitants of the city of Davao usually speak Cebuano or Visayan dialect. Many people from different parts of the Philippines migrated in this city, especially the people in the Visayas region. Most of the inhabitants are Catholics, there is a considerable number of Muslims and other Christian religions.
